Our Staff

We're very proud of our treatment team, many of whom have been with us for over 20 years. They are experienced in delivering comprehensive patient care. In fact, they have often been asked to share their collective wisdom at professional meetings, offering insights to colleagues. They are happy to help make your orthodontic experience a pleasant and rewarding one.

Dr. Coffelt received her dental degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1984. She continued her general dentistry training the following year when she attended the University of Maryland's Advanced General Dentistry Program. After completing her orthodontic post-graduate training at the University of Louisville in 1991, Dr. Coffelt returned to Northern Virginia where she developed her own successful orthodontic practice in Centreville, Virginia where she practiced for 12 years. She also had a satellite office for 6 years in the Mount Vernon area. Initially working part-time with Dr. Bagden, Dr. Coffelt sold her practice and joined our office full-time in 2004. She is a certified Damon Instructor and has lectured nationally at the Damon Forum and Gorman Institute.

In her spare time, Dr. Coffelt enjoys going to the gym and playing tennis. The past three summers, she was a member of a sports camp mission’s team to Ostruda, Poland where she taught tennis. She is also a second degree black belt in karate.

Marie welcomes new patients into our office. She will also help arrange an appointment that works best for your schedule. Marie brings that art of multi-tasking to a new level each and every day at our busy practice. It spite of it all, she maintains a calm and pleasant demeanor. An eight year plus staff member, she takes pride in her family of five adult children and six grandchildren. Marie loves to solve crossword puzzles, read and travel.

Jan has been an integral part of Dr. Bagden's practice for 26 years, assisting countless families in financing their treatment, handling accounting and even treatment coordinator duties. She is a real 'jack-of-all-trades!' Jan resides with her husband, Sonny, and is the proud mother of a son, two daughters, three granddaughters and one grandson. Jan has a special love for getting off the main roads and exploring the shops, flea markets and solitude of small towns. She also enjoys getting together with friends for trips, dinner or the movies.

Bernie is a legend in our practice as well as the orthodontic profession. With more than 30 years in our office she has seen literally thousands of patients go through treatment in our office. She's seen patients become parents (even grandparents) and can literally remember EVERY patient by name over those years. She has been our primary treatment coordinator for the past 20 years. She can describe every facet of a case in terms everyone can understand. She's seen it all! Bernie is the proud mother of two daughters, three grandsons and one granddaughter. In the little spare time she has she loves to read and travel.

Carol has worked in the orthodontic field for over 20 years and is a skilled teacher and motivator. Her professional experience and her hands-on knowledge of children, having raised five of her own, make her a natural for her job. Carol, and her husband, Bob, love to remodel homes and enjoy their five grandchildren. Carol is also an avid reader and enjoys crafts and sewing. Travel is her true passion and she has an adventurer's heart.

Michelle has been an orthodontic technician for almost 20 years. Her gentle hands and easy laugh make her a calming influence on even the most apprehensive patient. She is masterful at making sure the treatment area runs smoothly and efficiently and that the doctors remain on schedule. Her daughter Lindsay received a BS degree in biology from Bridgewater College and plans a career in Marine Science. Michelle enjoys going to the gym, exploring the outdoors and spending time with her friends and family.

After a brief sojourn in North Carolina, Janice returned to the practice in March of 2005 and resumed a position as an orthodontic technician. Janice transitioned to the front office where her responsibilities are treatment coordinator and insurance coordinator. She doesn't mind showing her skills from time to time by clipping a poking archwire or repositioning a "wayward" archwire. Janice was a member of the practice in 1987-89. Although she was a certified dental assistant, Janice had no knowledge of the orthodontic field. She learned her skills under the tutelage of Drs. Wallert and Badgen. Janice left the practice in 1989 to join her husband, Nate, at a new duty station. Nate and Janice enjoys the blessing of having three wonderful young adults. They also have three grandchildren, who visit as often as possible. In her spare time, Janice is a avid reader and loves to dance. She and Nate are members of the nationally known club, The Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club.

Carolina has worked as a clinical technician for over seven years. She is from El Salvador and speaks fluent Spanish and English. Her number one goal is to make our patients happy and comfortable. She and her husband, Mauricio have a beautiful daughter Alex and are expecting their family to grow shortly. In her spare time, she spends time with her family and friends. Her hobbies include listening to music and shopping.

Wendy is originally from Pennsylvania. She has been a clinical orthodontic technician for 6 years and has joined our office as our in office laboratory technician. She has a dog named Delilah. She is an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoys reading, watching movies and doing crafts.

With over 30 years experience, Sheila is an extremely talented ortho lab technician who takes great pride in her work. Her skill in our in-house laboratory allows us to deliver orthodontic appliances of the highest quality in a short period of time. Repairs and emergencies can also be handled in an expedited time frame. She and her beloved dog, Shelby, enjoy long walks in the mountains where they go frequently. Lawn and yard work are some of Sheila’s favorite activities.

Lynn is the newest member of our clinical team and has proven to all that she is a great asset to our office. She has over four years of ortho experience and excels at making our patients feel at ease. She shares both chairside and digital imaging duties at our office. She is married to her high school sweetheart of ten years, Pascual, and together they are the proud parents of three children, big sister Naomi, and twins Evalynn and Anamarie. Despite her hectic home life, Lynn is the picture of calm and enjoys making people laugh and feel comfortable. Her hobbies include road trips, family gatherings and dancing.

Diana has been in the orthodontic field since 2006. She is a native of Houston,Texas and relocated here recently. Being fluent in both English and Spanish enables her to communicate effectively with a great majority of our patients. Her even temperament puts even the most nervous patient at rest. Diana splits her clinic time between taking initial records and assisting the doctors chairside. She loves to see the end product of her work result in a beautiful smile. In her spare time she enjoys her large extended family, cooking and dancing.
