Note flat upper lip of patient. Other treatment plans had suggested removal of four permanent teeth which would have made the flat lip worse. Treatment plan with Damon system proposes no extractions in an attempt to IMPROVE facial esthetics.

Initial Appointment

Initial appointment with the braces just having been applied.

Two Months Into Treatment

Note how the teeth straighten so quickly with the Damon braces with no unfavorable side effects even though no teeth were removed to make space for the crowding. Traditional orthodontic treatment can not deliver such a result so quickly. Also note how the gum tissue is actually improving with the treatment. The next series of wires are placed.

Two Months Later

The bite on the side is improving in these stages. The next series of wires are placed.

Four Months Later

The gum tissue is dramatically improving when in the environment of active orthodontic tooth movement. The bite is better and the teeth are almost ideally straightened. Wires to continue the improvement are placed.

Final Phase of Treatment

Final wires have been placed with auxiliaries to control spaces. Patient is now wearing finishing elastic bands to improve the side bite and to enable the teeth to fit together in an ideal relationship. Removal of the braces is to be scheduled soon. Total treatment time has been less than fifteen months.
